Feburary
Life-Chains remembering South Africa's 1997 abortion law - 1 million unborn babies killed
The Ballito Life-Chain (6 February) was one of a
number of similar pro-life actions held on days close to 1 February 2011 which
commemorates 13 years since the abortion-on-demand law came into action in South Africa.
Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Pretoria saw similar commemorations.
The following report is by the KZN CFT member,
Nina McNeil:
The Life Chain in Ballito went very well with approximately 260
participants. Bruno Hlongwane and Marius Pretorius started the proceedings. Mr Vere
Witthoft gave the instructions as to where pro-lifers would be standing with their
posters. The gathering opened with prayer. Marshalls
led the people out to the designated areas. A local newspaper and radio station nterviewed
some of the participants. We spread out
alongside the road alongside the Lifestyle shopping centre, with the 20 small coffins that
Keith and Tish Kelly brought along. A number of the young people carried small white
crosses. Many pamphlets were handed out and we had a very favourable response from the
motorists. It seemed that the motorists were
out just to see what we were doing as at 3.30 the traffic just died down! Afterwards Johan
Claassen from DFL and Emila from 11th Hour counselling gave short reports on what they
were doing. Mr Erwin Schroeder closed with prayer.
(CFT France participated in Paris on 23 January 2011.
